Hey Rick,
Did you get that thing together? The snow we got might be a little wet for the thrower. Just wondering how it works with the wet sticky snow.

I have a snowthrower on one of my 102s. Year ago one of the auger shaft bearings gave up the ghost. Went to the local IH dealer and they could not match with the same as I had. Mine were held in by very thin metal on each side with the thin metal bolted to the thrower case. They found bearings that fit the shaft but were a little more robust than the originals. I had to buy the plates that fit both sides but have had no trouble since then. If I recall correctly those bearings were for a rear tine manure spreader.

i wound up using a set screw collar on both ends. it held up for the first snow, but i really need a larger engine for this unit. i have a 10hp in there. i put a smaller diameter pulley on the gearbox and increased the drive sprocket tooth count. it spins much faster than before, but when a load is applied it stops throwing. so now i'm looking for a 12, 14hp eng., or a 36" thrower.
how much snow did you wind up with?

Rick,
Considering that your cub is only 10hp, changing the pulley and the sprocket ratio may be what is killing you. Think of it this way. You can't climb a moutain in overdrive. That snow was wet and sticky. Did the shoot clog? Throwers are not real good with the wet stuff.
Do you still have the original pulley and sprocket? Just for grins, put them back on and see how your 10hp handles that.

Another thing about throwers is that you need to move fast enough to keep the auger filled but not so fast as to pack it in. I am keeping my thrower in reserve for the time when the dozer blade can't pile snow any higher.
