For starters I am new to Cubs... about three weeks ago I picked up this Cub Cadet 1000. I wasn't looking for another garden tractor at the moment, but I was surfing craigslist, and saw it and realized it was only 2 miles away from my house and came with a mower deck, snow plow, and a Peco rear vacuum. So I went a took a look at it. I told the guy after looking it over that, if I could get the engine to run I would take it home with me. Well after running 12v to the coil, and using a jumper on the starter and a spritz of starting fluid she started and stalled. That was good enough for me. The price was definitely right and it is all original. Along with coming with all of the original manuals, paperwork, and service receipts made it even better. I rebuilt the carb, flushed the gas tank, changed the fuel line, cleaned the battery ground point, and she started right up and runs great. When I tried to drive it I was met with a loud grinding/chattering noise and decided to pull the drive shaft cover to find out that the drive shaft is bent. So I have to fix that but otherwise it is a nice sound original unit. Here are some pictures and a video of it running!
Also! Can anyone please tell me what they think it is worth through a PM. I think I definitely got a deal for the price I paid. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Video of it running: http://s1201.photobucket.com/albums/...=things009.mp4 |

So I pulled the the drive shaft and low and behold it was definitely bent. I also know about the iso mounts. I am replacing them with solid billet one. I also ordered a new hardened drive shaft from Brian miller. I had a friend true up the pressure plates, but he thinks they are too flimsy and he is going to make me new ones (hes a machinist by trade). So when the parts come in I will post pictures until its fixed. I am pulling the engine and cleaning behind the shroud (mouse nest) and then taking off the head to de carbon it and replace the head gasket.

Also, I went to pick up an engine from a guy, and he has 2 cubs there and a K181 off a cub? I am going to buy them when I get some more money in.
The cub 1250 with no hood, but the engine runs, and it a mid mount aerator on it, made of heavy steel, it looks almost like an aftermarket attachment. When I pick it up, I will definitely post pictures of it. The other cub I don't know what it is but its a narrow frame, I didn't get a good look at it. If anybody needs parts let me know. I don't need these but I would like to keep the engines and related parts. |

I would drive 2 miles to pick that 1000 up too. Not sure what the value is but probably around/ less than $500.
Regards, Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
