Paul, Your pulleys sound like they match the sizes of my pulleys. I've done some checking online, and looks like the pulleys are the correct ones for my 2182 pto and the 451. The only differance I can find online are the gears in the gear box. 451 = 31 teeth 450= 28 teeth maybe the PO switched the gears for some reason? BUT, if someone put 28 teeth into my 451 wouldnt that make it go faster? So only would make sense if I had a 450 with 31 teeth, that would slow a 450 down. Now I'm confused.

The first time I put my 451 on my 2182 it would do about the same thing yours is doing.
I tried several things and it ended up being the Kubota engine was not turning fast enough. Changed high speed and it would blow snow great. That also really helped with mowing also. I was told that the Kubota's were not set to run a true 3600 RPM. They were set to run about 3300 to 3400 RPM. They have enough power/torque that you do not notice the loss of RPM like you would with a 20 or 22 HP Kohler motor. I have three 2182's now and all three the high RPM was set about 3250 RPM. Mine will blow light snow 25 feet and heavy snow about 20 feet |

I got to brainstorming, yes I know that can be dangerous, but did you check the impeller to be sure that it is tight to the shaft. The auger does turn slowly but that impeller really spins and that is what throws the snow out. I can get snow to blow 20 feet at only 3/4 throttle.

Paul, 3/4 throttle my blower would just put the snow 3 feet. Impeller is fine and is attached to the shaft as it should be. Good guess though.
How about.. I never had a 3 cyl Kabota, and I dont really notice the govenor kicking in under load.? I dont notice the govenor on my bobcat either, so maybe it doesnt kick in like my 8 HP ariens walk behind blower. Just a thought. Don |

I would say if all checked out then it must be your rpms. Having no experience with setting the rpms I would suggest you go to your manual or theEngine section and see how to git-r-done.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
