Default Craigslist Rant

I'm trying to sell my truck on Craigslist and am almost ready to pull the ad. The only people sending email on it is scammers. So I changed the ad to read phone or text only. Hope that helps.

Is this normal? I have sold many things on CL with no scammers, but once I posted a car, it has gone wild. My acreage mower is on CL and I have not had a problem at all.

Thanks.

Apparently the bigger money/scams are with automobiles. Stupid scammers.

I have yet to post anything for sale on Cragslist, partially due to stories like yours. (I had a nice bird cage left with the house I bought 5 years ago. I thought about putting it up for sale on CL, but....you know why I didn't. I gave it away for free instead. Less hassle.)

I purchased a number of items from people advertising on Craigslist though, including my 129, blade, and "48 deck. All three from different folks.

Best of luck.

do you have your email address set like; name@whatever.com or name at whatever.com

you'll get rid of 95% of the spammers on the 2nd route, make people actually type the address, not just have a robot copy/paste and spam you.

gcbailey is right...I usually type out my phone number and I dont even put my email and I usually dont have any trouble. You have to have patience with CL, theres a lot of dumb people on there but theres also a lot of people who will be interested in your truck.

I hate the people who want to buy things but back out. I am helping my dad sell his Murray LT because he bought a brand new Cub LTX1045. There was a guy who was coming with the asking price in cash on Thursday, never showed up and won't even answer his phone.

I really love the folks that say they'll be there tomorrow, or whatever, and don't show. I'm dealing with that on my acreage mower!!!

I just changed the ad to a typed out number, and a comment that I won't answer email, phone only.

Thanks for the ideas!

That's not Craigslist's fault, that is just people with low character doing what they do best..... Committing to something and not having the fortitude to carry thru or to call and apologize for backing out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
