I see the rebuild kits on Ebay with aftermarket parts, but,
Does anyone offer one with OEM Kohler parts!!?? ![]() I want to rebuild a K301. The local motorcycle shop will measure the existing engine and bore to match fit the kit I get for $50. I would hate to buy aftermarket if I can get Kohler for $100 more. Anyone have experience with the aftermarket kits?? |

I've rebuilt two kohlers (12 & 14 horse) with after market kits. No problems so far. Both motors were bored ten over.
Both times the machine shop wanted the piston for a final fit. Both motors run just as they should. I don't use the aftermarket seals or headgasket that comes with the kit, instead replace those parts with OEM Kohler. No worries here... metalrain |

As said the sponsors or try your local NAPA store. They can get OEM Kohler kits as well as aftermarket.

Ive done only a couple with kohler parts and 4-5 with aftermarket parts (stens) they all work great, put quite a few hours on a couple of them and no problems.

If your goin to run it alot and hard i think you wana go with stellite for the exhaust, regular is fine for the intake, at least thats what an older guy that rebuilt kohlers for a living told me i think.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
