Looks real similar to my husqvarna deck. Not certain though I would think its most likely an mtd deck of some sort.

Why would you modify the deck/connection linkage when there are plenty of 44 inch decks out there?

My 44A needs rebuilding - this unit is very close in size and layout and was Free at the dump. Finding another deck with 6 rollers, cast iron spindles with replaceable bearings , newer blade design, minor surface rust and heavy reinforces shell in Maine would have been a challenge. Enjoyed the challenge of simply removing the original mounting points and welding on some from another totally rusted out 44A. If I can identify this deck it may be More readily available for other members to use (will paint white) Bob

My guess is Massey Ferguson! Looks to well built to be an MTD knock off.

Once again, most Craftsman product is manufactured by AYP, which is part of Husqvarna, who is not owned by MTD. I do not believe it is a Craftsman though,it looks similar to the deck on some Scotts and Noma machines.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
