I thought it was the other way around??

The only ones I have found lately are the solid ones, without the steel center!!??





My local Cub guy said the metal center ones have asbestos coating, and work well, if you could find one.

the reason it was rubber was that the guy i got it from his uncle had put that in there because he was to cheap to buy a new one

Nope, why would they put the friction material between two sheets of steel? That wouldn't make any sense...

The solid one are older...if you buy a new one it has 3 layers. I doubt there's any asbestos in those.

By other way around, I meant the newer ones are solid, no steel.

I purchased two from different sources and got solid ones from both.

Interesting...all of the ones I have bought from Cub Cadet have not been solid, and I don't think I've ever seen the solid ones on anything newer than a 1x4.
