Now I Can Shed Some Light On THAT!!
Well, a few weeks ago I put a 1/4" steel topped workbench in my shop.
The steel to is BLACK!! If you set something on it to be worked on, there was not enough light, the steel top just sucked up all of the light. I had a light fixture somebody had removed from their house, probably got it at a yard sale, I just needed a way to hold the fixture. Well a piece of 1/4" x 6 x 10 steel and two bolts, I now have a new favorite light!!  The head is adjustable so the new light fixture is great for working under a tractor because it will shine up also.  The 1/4" thick base made it heavy enough that it can take quite a bump without falling over. The fixture uses a 23 watt CFL bulb. The two 5" bolts were leftovers from a previous project, the bolts are double nutted to the plate. Do you have a pic of your favorite shop light!!?? My old eyes need all the help they can get!!

sweet set up. i love my florescent lights and thoses big sodium shop light.

I don't have a picture but my favorite shop light is my Bayco fluorescent droplight. It is on a 30 ft cord on a retractable reel. No cord to wrap up afterwards.

I was telling my buddy about the light I made, and he said he had what I needed.
We went out to his shop, and he gave me this!!  He said this ought to take care of my lighting needs, at least over my workbench!!  400 watts, metal halide, nice white light. He put up 9 of these in his shop. They were taken out of a gym.
