hi all, purchases a pretty nice 2182 with a 60 haban yellow deck a few months ago from the family of a guy who had died. the middle blade sits lower than the other two blades and cuts so low that i have big brown strips in the yard just in the middle. doesnt look spaced or anything. is this normal? do i just need to adjust how it is lifted in the front? not shure but it is deffinitly lower in the middle. what kind of other decks can attach to this mower? btw the plastic isnt on but its not cracked! thanks

All 3 blades should be at the same height. I'd put a straight edge across all 3 and check and if the center is off find out what is wrong. If they are all even maybe the front is tipped down but I kind of doubt that because it should be running on the wheels.

I think the PO whacked a stump and bent the deck.
![]() That one spindle is sitting on an angle!! Don't ask me how I know about that!! ![]() It is easy to fix. |

Also, a spindle may have went bad, and a replacement was installed incorrectly. BTDT....

There may be an extra washer or two on top of the blade, between it and the spindle bearings, making it lower. Also, if the edges of the center blade are bent down, that would do it also.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
