!/4x1 1/2 fits most driveshafts, the front axle on my QL takes 3/16.
There are 5/16 and 3/8 in other locations, you may want to get several at one time to simplify ordering!!?? ![]() I would get the 420 high strength if I were ordering them. Steel is minimally cheaper. |

Here are 6 photos of status so far. I jacked up the front end so that the oil would stay in the transmission when I removed the oil filter. I had to remove the filter to gain access to the coupler. Only about 10 ounces of oil came out.
I cleaned with brake cleaner and put masking tape over the filter base to keep debris out of the system. As you can see, the spirol pin is missing from the coupler hole. I am not sure if I can or should put the new pin in without splitting the tractor .... because I am not sure how difficult it will be to insert the new pin. I would not want to pound on the pin and put pressure on the transmission shaft without support on the other side and then damage the tractor. My problem is that I need to mow my 2 acres of grass with a tractor and this Cub Cadet is all I have besides my push mower. I suspect that I will need to split the tractor, take a good look at the other potential wear items, and figure out how to get the grass cut in the meantime. I might end up going to Lowes and buying a "disposable" tractor to get me through the summer. |

Save your money. Your only a couple hours from a complete fix of this one. Just disconnect some linkages, remove the bolts holding the rear to the frame and take the bolts out of the rag joint and slide the rear out and replace the pin. It's a pretty easy job and we can walk you through it. Good luck.
Those hub caps may be breaking the pin.....you need to sell them to me.

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...&dn=0019900010 as Cub Cadet IH-19837-R2 (replaces IH-19837- R1) Pin, 1/4 X 1-1/2 Dowel ... however they want $5.76 each. I will search around locally and see what i can find. I hope i can drive the pin in with a punch without having to buy a special coil pin driving tool ... we shall see! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
