Default New Original

Just got off the phone to a guy who has an Original, and thinks it is a 1961!

Going to go look and hopefully buy it Sunday morning...If I end up bringing it home, I am going to tear it down for new paint, and an engine rebuild shortly after hearing it run.....Then it will be taken to shows.

.....enjoy it a little first before turning it into a trailer queen! Who knows it might be ready to show as it is! It's only original once.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, the guy made "Around $200" on the phone...into "$450 is what its going to take" in person.

It was fairly original and clean (Although not a '61)...so I offered $375. He still wouldn't budge, so I thought " to ya! " and left.

In those situations mrcubcadet, it's best to leave on good terms and leave some contact information. Let the other person know that if they change their mind that you are still interested in it (if you want to you could say "My offer is good for "x" weeks/days...etc."). Sometimes they think it over and change their mind-then they have your contact information.

Oh well you had to try, it wasn't meant to be and there will be others.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
