Default I'm glad I found this forum

I have a feeling you guys are going to save me a lot of trouble.

I did some mechanicin' for a gent ... fixed a Sportster, MTD rider, Sears self-propelled and a chain saw ... and he gave me a CC 2185 with only 365 hours on it. Also has a new PTO clutch.

I know it's one of the new ones (by MTD) but I'm in love anyway!

But, I checked the Cub Cadet website and they don't even seem to acknowledge that it's one of their models. No manuals or docs or anything.

Regards, Steve

Steve
Post some pictures of your 2185 when you get some time.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions. Someone here can help you out.

Roady...Along with my IH Cub Cadet Collection, there is a 2185!...It's a helluva mower and indeed you'll love it for your lawn maintenance. It'll easily pull a trailer, sweeper, vacuums, etc. Just remember, no ground engaging equipment, as it's not a Garden Tractor, nor intended to be.... When the 2185 was made, the 3000 series were the Garden Tractors.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
