You may find that with such a small change needed(untwist) there is no need to heat.

I would advise not to keep twisting the metal back and forth as it will make it weaker over time. If you don't get the right you'll smoke your belt.

Agreed.
I did the same (flatten) to my brackets. The previous owner ran the deck drive to a 38" cut deck, even though the deck drive was for the 44" and 50" deck.

I disassembled the drive, removed the pulleys, and flattened the brackets in a 20 ton press. No heat needed.

Cheers

I don't want to open a can of worms here, but I've run my tiller with the mower deck mule on a 147 for 23 years and haven't had any problems. I have recently put the tiller on a 149 and am using the mule from that mower deck also.

Nah, your not opening any worms. But your mower mule drive is a completely different design than the one he has. You can use your's without issue.

Do you have a tiller as well? If so you need to the 38/42 mule drive. If no tiller then you need the 44/48/50 mule drive.

I have a separate mule drive for my tiller than for my 44a mower deck. I have a 1250 and 1450. You only need the front part of the mule drive and not the mower hanger if that helps when you are looking.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
