Can you flip the diff? In other words can i put the ring gear on the other side of the pinion to have 3 reverse gears and one forward?
Ok, heres the deal...got a 15hp air cooled diesel but want to use rear of engine to drive shaft because i dont want to remove pull start even though it does have electric start. using rear of engine has opposite turn. also this tractor is just for fun except for occasional pulling of cart or other stuff, if diff can be flipped is there any worry about other gears?

Well we did it in a pulling tractor, we put the differential in backwards, but did not mean to flip it, but that is what we had three reverse and one forward, something like in a cotton picker I have been told.

When we were putting in the differential, we put in the ring gear on the wrong side, so it made it work backwards., the ring gear was on the left side of the pinion, instead of on the right side

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
