Default New guy from Minnesota

Hi to all ,
I am new to the site .I bought a cub1541 back in 1991.and used it up to a couple a years ago .in which I passed it down to my daughter and son inlaw . I recently got it back and I happy going to restore it . the reason I got it back was because while they where blowing snow with it . it just up and quit running . Now if you turn it over by hand it make a clicking noise . if you turn the engine over back wards it spins fine , the starter wont turn it over . Iam wondering if the hydro static has something to do with it ,or is there major engine problem . any help would bewonderful . I live in north of the cities , and Ilove my cub . I would like to give it a 2nd chance in life . a very faithful garden tractor .and I want to show it off !!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a wiring or starter problem.

Joel it should be depressed to start as there's a switch there. Make a post in the CCC/MTD GT section with your serial number and request for a wiring diagram. Roland should have that for you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
