I have a 125 that I completely restore over the past year and a half. I rebuilt the engine, replaced the wiring, new coil, point saver, new points, the works. The engine runs great until about 30 minutes then it gets an intermitent miss at mid to high throttle with a small load. I have not gotten my mower deck finished so I can't really work it yet.
Yesterday my son and his friend were having some fun with the tractor, a rope and a skateboard (redneck games) and it sputtered and died. they had just refueled so I knew it wasn't empty. I pulled the fuel line off at the carb and burped it, then away she went. I will say that I have an inline fuel filter as well as the screen in the tank and the fuel filter never fills all the way up. There is always a bubble in there. Could this be my problem? I probably don't need the inline filter since I sealed the inside of the tank. What do ya'll think? |

Something is messing with the fuel getting to the carb. My son's 125 would ast like that and it was gas getting to the carb. I would empty out the bowl and it would take 20 mins before enough gas would trickle into the carb so it would run again. Carb rebuild and new lines and filter fixed it. Yours should be easier to inspect and find the problems.

I think I will try it without the filter and see what happens. I read on a thread somewhere not to use a filter with a gravity feed system.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
