Default Brush Cutting & Rough Field Mowing

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I might use on a 1650 as a brush cutter or rough filed mower? I have been looking for an old Mott self-powered flail mower, but I've never seen one here in Colorado. Are there other, more recent, manufacturers of these things? I mostly need it to cut native grasses around my house for fire mitigation. Thanks.

There are a few pull type flail mowers built today, just not sure of who makes them. A golf course near by uses one behind an 8n Ford, and many other golf courses do..Because of the way they cut.

Why not a used 44" mower deck;

The cheapest option

Readily available

Low cost maintenance

The 16HP will "crank" a 44" deck through anything!!

I use this 38" on my 1210 for nasty stuff. Not talking about trees mind you but it will eat just about anything that will fit under it.

Just find an old mower deck. Who cares what it looks like, so what if the bearings are a little noisy. Sharpen the blades, Greece it up and let .er buck!

The problem with rotary mowers (I have 44" and 50" decks) is that my property is chock full of very rocky terrain. Even a heavy-duty rotary brush mower would get damaged. It isn't like a field in the sense that there are many, many rocks and boulders poking through the ground. I need something that will clear most of the rocks and not get damaged too much if it hits the occasional rocky outcrop. A sickle mower might work, though. Good idea.

Now, I wonder if any of THOSE are here in CO. Seems like all the attachments I'm after are well east of me.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
