The grass has been growing!! The grass in my lower pasture was 2 feet tall, the seed heads were 6 feet tall (Kentucky 31). I did not want to push one of my garden tractors, so I hooked up my REAL lawnmower!!
![]() The mower is not IH, but, the tractor is!! ![]() Kinda looks neked without the loader!! I know you guys like to talk about flail mowers, so I thought I would show the one I have had for about 10 years. ![]() The 390 goes through 2 feet tall grass like I'm pulling a disc, zero effort. I bought the flail mower one day that I was shopping for a new CUT, this was cheaper, and I have one less battery to go dead. The reason I selected the 390, is that I have a 1/4 mile driveway, and I was tired of weedeating!! ![]() The overhang of the mower goes under trees, and right along the driveway. Also only one set of tires is on the "unmowed" grass, the other side runs on mowed grass. ![]() That is a 2 foot drop off next to the driveway that the 390 takes care of. ![]() OOPS, I missed a spot!! ![]() I have about 6 other acres the 390 gets to mow. Not much seat time at 3 acres per hour!! ![]() ![]() So, when you have two feet tall grass facing you, consider a flail mower. ![]() |

Cad I want one of those but I think it may be just a bit big for the BX. I let the local farmer cut most of my field for hay. This is what I use when I want to Git-Er-Done quick.

you can get a 48" offset flail for the BX.... I could justify it, but I think the alimony payments would be too much.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
