IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!

Sorry... but I'm excited! I finally have it running on it's own now!! Turns out it was just LOADED with varnished gas and build up. Sam got me to where I needed to be and the solenoid finally freed up. Also cleaned out the fuel shutoff valves at the gas tank. They were blocked solid!

Now I just have to get new hose clamps for all the new fuel hose because it's leaking all over!

Sam knows just enough to get into trouble, ask me how I know

Clyde glad you got it running. Think you will be happy with it once it's sorted out.

Glad you solved your problem.
This is why we are all here, giving info and learning new.
Us older members remember when we didn't have 'puters, and a lot of times paid for knowledge, in some form or another.
Sometimes, just sometimes, the good old days did lack some good things.

Well thanks very much guys. This is definitely becoming an obsession. A while back I was ready to give up and just buy something new until I found the 1641 and Sam pushed me along...

That 1641 will outlast and out work any of the big box throw away so called tractors that you can buy today. Yes it will need a little TLC but you will be happy with the results. Plus you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you fixed it yourself.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
