Default QA42A Stalls and plugs
First time using a QA42A on my 149 got 18" of snow last night when I went to snow blow it kept plugging in the chute and the blower would stop. The belt didn't slip the PTO would stop. I would clean it out and start again same result. Is this an alignment problem with the blower and PTO. Any suggestion? Thanks!

Sounds like your PTO clutch needs rebuilding. A coating of graphite paint (slip plate) on the inside of the chute and blower housing works wonders, too.

In addition, make sure your motor is running at 3600 RPM or WOT.

Thanks for the replies. I did rebuild the PTO changed everything but the bearing. I also replaced the governor control arm. How would I check that it is running at 3600 RPM? Ialso don't know what WOT means?

You could check your RPM's with a Tachometer.

also make sure you're not going too fast into that 18" Your pto shouldn't just stop, your engine should bog down and quit first.

Thanks! for the help guys. It's raining today. Tomorrow I will go over everything again. I also found the mainual on the snow blower. Will let you know if I find anything. I do have some slip plate and will add it to the chute. I was lifting the blower half way and trying to take small bites still quit. I am ging to double check the PTO and make sure it is fully stopping.
