Default Idler pulleys

Have spun one bearing and the other is pretty much at the end of it use by , both have less than 40 hours on them.
Can anyone confirm if there was a recall by Cub for a dodgy bunch of bearings.
These are the supposed seal for life type

You give us no information as to what model of tractor or the pulleys you are working on, thus it is difficult to answer your question.

Sorry about that
It is a Cub Cadet GT2550 and the pulleys are the cutting deck idler pulleys.
When passing the local mower shop on Wednesday there was another model Cub with the same problem.
Have Cub done any recalls on dodgy bearings?

You can open those up and replace with sealed roller bearings.

Thanks restore 49 , have done that with one of the pulleys , drilled out the pressings , new bearing and 1/4" bolts with nylock nuts should do the trick as a spare.
Both idler pulleys given to me free of charge and I installed them.
Will keep my reconditioned one for when it is out of warranty

Follow up on this the 2 replacement deck idler pulleys on my GT2550 lasted another 35 hours and chopped out.
Now the ads for CubCadet say these are "heavy duty" bearings and they are the sealed for life type
Fortunately for me the local MTD/Cub Cadet people replaced both again even though it is now out of warranty also replaced the idler arm with a slightly different type however it looks better suited to the job
Does anyone know did Cub do any recalls on sealed for life bearings/pulleys ?
But I must say a big Thank You to MTD/Cub Cadet Australia for listening and replacing the faulty bits
Hope fellow forum members get the same kind of good customer service

Hey Sam , The failed ones have gone back to CC for a look but I shall endeavour to get you some photos ASAP
As mentioned the Idler Arm was also replaced as the Failed bearing due to not running true (wobbling) chopped out the retaining shaft
Anyway all good now Cub has had its pre winter service , time now to start chopping wood not mowing lawns

Sorry about the poor first photo @sam mac but the second photos shows the original with failing bearing and one I rebuilt by drilling out the pressing and inserting new bearing and put back together using bolts and nylock nuts

Good job on the pulley, but I suggest that you add 4 bolts where I have the holes circled in red to keep it from spreading.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
