Another newbie (in NC) with problems. Installed a all new shaft and clutch and drive plates in my 122. I cant seem to get the adjustment right! When I push the clutch in, the plate goes free, when I let it out the drive plates press on the clutch plate like it is suppose to, but when running it wont go in gear. Does anyone have a list of common mistakes in this area?

tomturkey welcome to OCC. Sounds to me like the rear plate isn't releasing correctly. That is the rear plate that slides a little. Did you put a little lube on that portion of the shaft were the release plate rides?

It almost sounds like the plates may have been put in the wrong places. The plate with the slotted pin hole goes in the back.

Welcome to occ!!! page 19 of the PDF on the 100 manual tells you the specs of where the pedal should be. Might have to adjust the brakes to make them work with the clutch correctly as well. Good luck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
