Hey guys. My name is Randy. I'm new to this forum. I've been into vintage and antique farm and garden equipment since I can remember. I recently acquired my late uncles cub cadet model 70. It is in really bad shape. Right before he passed away he noticed it had a rod knock. After he was gone my cousin took it all apart and pretty much left it. that was 11 years ago. I finally got the 70. I will be leaning on you guys for info and how to reassemble this thing since I didnt take it apart and there are parts missing left and right. From what my brother told me about the engine that it's a k301. Which I know is not original. The 70 is being brought to my house hopefully within the next couple of weeks. Any info on this machine would be greatly appreciated. Here is the picture my brother sent me when he picked it up from my dads ( I live three hours away.)

I am going to try my best at taking pictures when it arrives and during thr process of tear down and restoration. This thing brings back lots of memories. Especially of my uncle who was like my second dad. He taught me everything I know about mechanics. He lived across the street and I was over there everyday workin on stuff with him. Kept me out of trouble and made appreciate family.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
