Funny Cub
Since after the first year I owned my '09 LTX 1046 the transmission has made a wierd noise when first going forward.....or reverse. Most times it would be ok but then others it would just not go. Each year it did get worse and worse.....This year it wouldn't move at all!!
I contacted Cub Cadet about the recall but my tractor is about 5mo older than the problems they had w/ the transmissions.  I went back to TSC where I bought it..... I posted on other sites....... I looked up the transmission on line and ....... I called the local Cub Cadet dealer, they wanted to look @ it, and @ $78/hr.... I got under the tractor while my son was trying to go forward and the only thing I saw was the belt was a little sloppy...... Grass was growing out of control and I had to push it...... So the day came when it was time to scrap the CC or fix it..... but we all know the trans has no serviceable parts or fluid to change....The drive home was about 7 miles and the scrap yard is 9 miles.......  I was headed to the scrap yard, I was done w/ this tractor and was thinking about getting rid of the rest of the Cubs when I had this thought "how many times have I pulled something out of the garbage and fixed it? It's always something simple, I should at least pull it apart and learn why it failed." So I went home and started looking. Right behind the right tire I saw a bent piece of metal, it looked out of place so I started tracking where it went/what it did....Then I see the disc brake, it's the lever, it goes to the break pedal....and there's slack in the pedal....I tried to move it but it wouldn't budge.....there's only one cotter pin and a nut holding it on so I pull the pin and back the nut off 1/16th of a turn.....and that was the whole problem!!! The disc break was rusting on, the trans wanted to move but the break was stuck on!! LMAO I took it all apart, sanded the rust off and used some good grease on all the parts (except the disc). The next day I changed the belt and cut the grass....works better than new!! Now a little side note, on one of my trips to TSC I asked the guy to start a tractor so I could see the slack in a new CC drive belt. When he went forward a little, it did the same exact thing my tractor was doing......things that make you go mmmmmmmmmmm? I am still in love w/ my CC and am keeping the small fleet I have. Mouse
