The Bill Ruegg 3 pt is a copy of the 3 pt that was designed for supers. I prefer the way it puts the load of the lower arms onto the axle housing directly. Check it for yourself before you decide. I have heard nothing but good comments about both options - xtreme or Bill Ruegg, so I don't think you can go terribly wrong either way. The only 2000 RPM tillers that I could find were very expensive. I also do not have a rear PTO, so that would have been more cost for me. I considered using the #2 tiller that I had, but I did not like the long front to back belt problem, and I was never entirely happy with the range of lift that I had when mounted to my 1450. I recommend a John Deere Model 30 hydraulic tiller. These things are heavy duty, and now that I have used it, I will never go back to a mechanical tiller. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it is the wrong shade of yellow. Hook up is a breeze, there is a lots of lift, and it is built to take abuse. |

Also, I guess the #2 tiller and gearbox with long belt would still work on the 2072 without any issues.

I will post some pictures of the JD tiller. I can also post some dimensions of the pump mount bracket that I made. If you have a grinder with a cut off wheel, a welder and a drill, you can make the pump mount bracket out of the JD one. The idea is to mount the pump in the mower deck location, and use your normal mower deck belt. I also made my own 3pt bracket. These tillers were made in a 3 pt version, but are harder to find. All that is different is the mounting bracket. Jim Briney makes a reproduction of the JD bracket. Just search for "Jim Briney model 30". I bought an "A" frame hitch from Ballard Fabrication, cut apart the non 3 pt bracket, and welded on the "A" frame to make a 3 pt bracket. |

You cant compare the 2 types of tillers....I've used both, one I had on a 1650, and the one I have now on the Super (I used had with the 1650) that is PTO driven... You can find 3pts out there at auctions and if you cant get a rear PTO setup there are the self powered 8hp tillers by Cub Cadet that shows up ervery once in a while....I went throught the same phase looking, then found numerous 3pts and PTO's.... The SGT's are beasts with the 3pt compared to the sleeve hitch on a GT... I can tear up virgin soil and in 3 or 4 passes have a shredded garden soil where the GT and belt tiller would have shaken apart and killed the belts... Any Cat 0 tiller will work...Doesnt have to be a CC.... How is that Sam??? lol |

Yes, this is a hydraulic tiller. And yes it is a beast. It is a real good match for the SGTs.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
