You are only 410 miles away per Goggle, put that thing on a trailer and haul it on over. Well it was a thought anyway. Just not a good one.

lol i wouldnt mind a road trip to va its beautiful there. i havent been there in years, my dad was born and raised in galax, va.. i done some wire searching, turned key switch on & dash and head lights come on, but i couldnt here the fuel shut off solenoid on carb click, so i removed it and checked it by turning key off and on it didnt do anything, so i turned key to starting position and it opened. it has to be something in the wiring on the engine. i found what looks to be some kind of a fuse link or a diode. it looks like a piece of wire surrounded by clear plastic, it looks to be intact not burnt in two. better luck tommarrow evening signing off for now gotta work early in the am...

I had a similar problem with my 1250. I put in a new key switch and as I was trying to start it up nothing. It would just turn over but as soon as I let go and the key went to run it started. Just would not start in start mode only run mode The coil wire was hooked up wrong.

If it opens when turning the key to start the diode is working. You should have power on the red wire coming from the key in the run position to hold it open after it starts. Start from the R terminal on the switch.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
