I got the block back today from the machine shop. Bored 0.020 over to clean in up and had a valve job done. The rest of my parts should be here Friday. I didn't like the way the crank bearings felt after I cleaned them up so I ordered a set of those also. Here is a pic of my helper washing off the cleaning solvent in the bath tub. I'm hoping to get the engine done and installed this weekend if all goes well with getting my parts.

I am in Waupaca, which is right between Appleton and Stevens point. Sounds like I'll be getting my second cub cadet this weekend if the guy will be home from his traveling job. I don't know what model it is but supposedly its in good shape but the engines getting tired, I'll have to wait to find out. He only wants $50 for it so I told him consider it sold!

I got the engine reassembled and installed tonight. I'm waiting on the front pto bearing and locking collar and a bronze bushing for the carb shaft which should be here early next week, then I'll be ready to try and start it. I also need to paint and install the bosch blue coil and a new condenser. I decided not to paint the engine since I'm not going to paint the rest of the tractor until maybe this fall.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
