I have a new red spring from Cub Cadet Classics. You're welcome to it! It is a heavy one. 850# I think. I have seen a lot of pullers using them, but I imagine you would need to make your drive line stronger to be able to hold up to the red spring.
Hopefully others can chime in. epsichug:Welcome to Only Cub Cadets! Just a great support group here!

if you're just going to use the 7 that's in it I'd true up the pressure plates. you can use a red spring or just use the stock spring but I'd suggest a new one since over the 50 years the spring probably started going soft. put a throw out bearing in it if the old one feels rough or shows allot of wear. and if the driveshaft is worn I'd replace that. usually where the throw out bearing rides it wears pretty bad.

So if I'm going to do it right, I should just rebuild the whole drive line ECT?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
