You never admit what the problem is when it's human error.... right? Probably the belt was put on wrong on initial setup, someone feel asleep doing something.

Thanks again for the advice and support everybody, I'm making a contribution to the board, glad I found it.

Hopefully you are good to to long term. Over the years I've had terrible service out of dealers of most any kind of equipment. It doesn't help that they don't know what they are selling a lot of times either - other than it's a Cub Cadet and it's a shaft drive - better than a belt kind of talk. As I get long in the tooth, I kind of like to see stuff I buy go out of warranty - then I don't feel bound to any particular dealer. Nice thing about the old IH or CCC stuff (and other old iron tractors), is that there are a lot of them out there and there is a lot of great forums like this one that can give you the kind of knowledgeable support sorely lacking at most dealers in my neck of the woods.

Good luck!
Bill

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
