Hi fellow Cub Cadet owners. This is my first post.
I bought an LTX 1045 about a month ago and love it so far. I have always mulched when mowing and now I want to add that capability to my new rig. I have heard that the blades that come with the CC mulch kit aren't all that great and that better ones are available elsewhere. Is this true? And is it possible to get the plug for the discharge area separately from the blades? Otherwise I would have to buy the kit for $55 from CC and waste the blades. Thanks for your help. |

I guess this must have been a dumb question.
![]() I went ahead over the weekend and ordered the CC mulch kit from my local dealer. It should be in this week. I'll see how it performs. |

I would have thought it not difficult to buy just the plug. You can for all of the MTD line I thought. The blades you buy the mulching brand of your choice and there are some very "wicked" ones out there. You would just buy the correct length and the correct mounting pilot for the spindles.
I believe the last I bought were Gator by Oregon blades but I don't recall which. There's a G3 and a G5 I believe. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
