I always heard to use linseed oil on wood that was going to be outside a lot. I.e., trailer floorboards, etc.

IHinIN, don't take this the wrong way but why wood? You have built this trailer to be a tank and the wood will be the weak link. Even some 3/16 sheet steel would be better. Maybe you have your reasons for wood! Thanks for sharing this project with us!

Awesome project, you have mad skills, but the choice of wood had me confused? I see me haulling rocks, busted up concrete chunks, big chunks of firewood? If one picece gets loaded with too much force, the wood sides could get damaged? But the trailer is awesome! |

Something I put on my last dump trailer was a top swinging tail gate like the big rigs use. I had the side opening like you have but then I added two large barrel bolts at the top inside corners of the gate and when the bed is tilted the gate swings outward to allow no hands dumping. Then when you want the side swinging door again you just slide the bolts back into their main bodies. That is one stout looking trailer. I would name it the mother in law transporter!

The trailer is finally done. It turned out so nice I don't want to use it and scratch it now.

I found a video from last fall when I used the trailer to haul leaves out to the field.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
