Default Need drive shaft for SGT 1882

I finally figured out that the problem with my 1882 is the driveshaft. The splines have failed on the end going into the engine. Does anyone out there have a used one or know a source? I checked the sites on this forum and it appears they dont have one. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you could be in line for the driveshaft update that Mac had worked out. I have the "prototype" on my 1572 and it works GREAT. No more rag joints and no more in-line clutch. This could probably work on your 1882 as well, and even simpler since I believe all you need is the shaft that goes between the adapter plates on the engine and the hydro pump. I think Mac used a 3000 series driveshaft for it. Mac?

Can do just need the dimension between the pump adapter and the engine adapter. I use the 2000 series shafts but they are the same as the 3000 series. Did you check with Patton?

The 1882 uses the CV type shaft.

And a shortened 2000 series drive shaft of the proper length should bolt right in, using the round rubber/neoprene snubbers which require no maintenance/greasing.

Wow, that's pretty crappy. You gotta buy the complete shaft for over $300. I was thinking they still made a replacement driveshaft only.

You can still get the shaft only for some tractors but Cub is playing gotcha on a lot of them. This is a 2000 shaft I put together using a 1772 that some guy from GA has sitting in my shop to mock it up.
