Hey YS, just got off phone with driveshaft guru, he looked at pics, says any driveshaft shop that has driveshaft lathe can spin cut that yoke off, replace bearing and reweld without losing any tollerances, besides price of carrier, he would probly be around 90-100 bucks to do this, that includes spin balancing after job is complete. I realize this shop is not in your area, but tryin to help ya out, hate to see you spend 7-8 hundred on it.

Wonder if they can make a modification, so it doesn't have to be cut and welded the next time hanger bearing goes. Like all the pickups used to be.

I hope there's a lot of miles on that truck!!! I'm not looking forward to having to get mine done.

Must say though, I've never had a call on that issue yet.

my '82 with new meat as of last thursday. then my '71, after another year, will be my summer only truck. Y.S- you need a 1-ton carrier bearing in it. i built a very hot '73 GMC 1-ton, had that split shaft. went through a few of those and even busting it off the 14 bolt 4.56 dana. i got the best my money can buy.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and suggestions concerning the problem with this shaft.

I ended up taking the shaft to a place in Arnold Mo. called Driveshafts Unlimited (nice guys there) they got me fixed up and I think they did a pretty good job. Only took them a day to get it done. The price was reasonable compared to anywhere else that I talked to ($399.45) parts and labor.

It now has a replaceable bearing that I should never need to replace.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
