I just found a Napa condensor in my grandpa's shop along with about 30 other condensors all in a stack couldnt find a coil though. Also found about 30 gm pickup headlights never used they never burn out so I dont see why he had that many

That is true, prices seem to go up, but the payroll never does! Kohler are great parts, and I don't mean to offend anyone, if I did, I'm sorry! I was caught off guard! I will be researching alternative part suppliers. But again, it sure is nice to have a Kohler dealer on your street!

jonjunk - Never in all the time I have owned my 82' F-100 have I had to replace any burnt out lights. But just recently I had to replace a single element brake light! I did replace both front headlights, but not because they burnt out, but because the lights were simply out dated. I now have a much brighter, newer set in now! I cannot tell you, HOW many bran-new cars and trucks I see with burnt out lights. All those "bells and whistles" are a big scam also. Take the Cadillac GM, what a wire nightmare, because of this the re-sale value is so terriable, you could not get full off the car if you had to eat it. The forgine jobs included.

Back on topic, I was happy to be adding the Kohler name to my 72. So I guess its not all that bad!

Well, lets face it. That condenser is made by some vendor and purchased by Kohler. That vendor could make that same condenser for a couple dozen different OEM's, and they will all charge a different price. They (the OEM's) put that part into a pretty plastic bad, that has the OEM's name & part number neatly printed and then they get their markup.

If a condenser has the same specifications (ie: Microfarad and Voltage) they will work no matter what plastic bag they come in.

Very true Roland,I remember buying a alternator belt for our 886 one time and the parts man asked,you want the expensive one or the cheap one? Both were made by the same manufacturer,just different names on the belt. One cost twice what the other did.

Ouch, Kohler parts can be pricy. I had a opposed kt17 I was going to rebuild for a wheel horse, but after seeing that all the parts would have cost me about 800-900$, I had to say no.

Soooo true. and that's why you don't see to many (if any) with specs. Like voltage and capacitance in this case.

I was a parts counterman, and involved in auto business for 25 years. Yes--sometimes that is true, but in most cases the cheaper is inferior quality.

Like distributor caps that give off a light show, but engine won't fire. Belts are the same---different plant? different quality.

Like I said, not always the case.
