Default Used hydro Vs putting in new shaft opinions

Just removed the charge pump shaft is shot. I see two options get a used hydro or install new shaft. any thoughts. I believe used pump will be cheaper.

1572 also can the pump come out without taking out the rear the tractor has a 3pt and rear pto

Yes it can come out without pulling the rear but it is not that much more work to pull the whole thing and you can do a better job with it out in the open. Keep in mind that you need the replace it with one from a Super, the output shaft has a different tooth count than the GT pumps.

Default Driveshaft convertion

I finished drive shaft converstion not too bad. I changed because charge pump shaft was bad and leaking. First I changed hydro pump to newer style. It was cheaper than replacing charge pump shaft. Next I had engine adapter plate made. Non to be found. Cost for plate $50. Took a drive shaft from a cyclops and had to shorten it by about an inch. Last I had collor made to put the two halves together which was another $35. Now it works great no vibration at all.

drcjv, sounds exactly like what happened to my 1572 years ago. The self-centering hearing wore out causing the disconnect clutch to spin out of center. The slinging weight of the clutch wore the pump shaft to an egg-shaped condition until the seal could no longer hold the oil. I too have upgraded the driveline and have gotten rid of the clutch by using a 2000 series shaft.

what pump did you use and what machine did it come off of. i havent torn my 1572 down yet but i think my shaft is shot as well thanks

Drcjv used a Cyclops pump from like a 1882 then we used 2 1440 drive shafts which he shortened plus all the right parts in between we did not have the part that bolts to the cast pulley he had that made yes I supplied his parts
