Default 1450 hydro getting hot and pressure in the rearend

I noticed the rearend on my 1450 was very hot after mowing for a couple hours the other day and there were little bubbles of hy-tran around the gasket. The rear cover was probably over 200 deg.
I did some checking today and it's the hydro that is actually getting hot. I checked the level of hy-tran and it was right up to the fill hole, but there was some pressure in the diff. when I took the plug out. The hydro is nice and clean with no debris sitting on to of it, I changed the hy-tran and filter last fall and I have a new fan. It never sits outside overnight or gets more than a few sprinkles of rain on it, so I'm sure there is not a water problem.

Any suggestions?

Try taking the tunnel cover off and making sure the fan is spinning as it should and not slipping around the shaft. You should be able to feel the air coming out the back of the machine while it's running.

Is there any hesitation in the transmission when you try to accelerate or slow down? How was the fluid that came out when you changed the fluid and filter?

Make sure you have the hydro pump/rear end cleaned off of dirt/dust/crud. Also ensure the fan is intact and is spinning properly when the engine is on.

There is a "breather" in the top of the Rear End Housing. Make sure that is clean and free from debris.

Another thing to check, is make sure the brake is not dragging. Internal or external, doesn't matter. Either one can cause excessive load, and therefore heat.

Make sure the fan is not on backward....it's happened before. The air flow should obviously be towards the rear of the tractor. Second someone's note above about crud in the cooling fins, use a popsicle stick or similar and go to town. When I cleaned up the hydro for my 147, I had a huge pile of greasy dirt in the shop floor, they can hold a ton of buildup.
