Default Diesel Cub

A friend of mine has a Three cylinder turbo diesel out of a generator and I think I might take him up on his offer and put it in the 129. Anyone got any words of wisdom or other diesel cubs?

Good luck. Your in for a big mod process. Seen lots of people start a mod like that and give up. I was measuring a 1000 I have the other day. Got a diesel I'd like to put in it.... frame isn't long enough, no room for a fuel tank... Oh, it can be done, but..... HEADACHES. Now, if you have an 82 series, or newer that was offered in diesel, then it wouldn't be so bad.

While your 129 is a wide frame, the nose on the 82 series tractors is slanted forward, which is what creates the space for a diesel to fit. Even so, the engine bay on my 882 is just about completely packed with the Kubota 3cylinder, cooling fan, battery and radiator.

Lotta mods ahead for you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
