Default 54" Mowing Deck Question
Looking to preserve the condition of my mowing deck and was wondering what to coat the underside with that would help reduce the grass from sticking as well as keeping the metal in good shape. Thanks!

If you can find something that grass won't stick to, let us know!! Best thing you can do is coat it with epoxy primer and lay some paint over the top. The ones of us that regularly maintain our decks paint them every so often.... Whenever they need it.

I read another thread on here and the general consensus was cooking spray....haven't tried it myself.

what about the graphite paint from TSC? just got a can today to try on my leaf blower foot I made.

I spray mine with WD after each time I clean it out. If nothing else it's something on the bare spots to help against surface rust. Seems to help against some grass accumulation.

Thanks for the responses, I guess I'll keep a good coat of paint on it and hope for the best. Seasonal maintenance should help, this is not something I'd care to replace.

I sprayed mine with rust neutralizer, 2k primer, 3 coats of brushed on rustoleum and then brushed on 3 coats of slip plate graphite paint from TSC. It works okay but when the grass has a high moisture content it still sticks to it.
I never spray either side with water after use because it will get between the plates on the top and cause corrosion on the bottom.

Good point about spraying with water, I did that once and it seemed to make a mess, typically use my leaf blower to clean it. NICE looking deck Oak!!
