Default New to me 123

picked up this 123 for a song sunday afternoon.

came with a really nice 38" deck, tractor has fresh tune up.

engine smokes a little bit, going to run it a while to see if it clears up, if not i'll rebuild it this winter. has lots of power and runs real nice.

the pto even works although the pto bearing is shot. hoping to find the correct exhaust elbow so i can put the exhaust back the way it was, i think i can reuse the muffler if i weld the crack and fix the mount tab.

the hydro creeps and the brake pedal wont put the hydro in neutral, guess i'm gonna learn hos to fix it.

it does not look like it was ever painted, some of the yellow may have been touched up but the hood is original paint, i may leave this one as is finish wise except for fining a better looking seat.

Congratulations--the 123 is one of the finest cubs produced during the 60's era and the first of the hydros!! It looks like it is going to get the attention that it needs in your hands, but overall it looks like it is already in pretty good shape!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
