Can anyone confer where Cub Cadet labeled oil is refined from? I had one source say Cub Cadet is refined from the Pennzoil Company. Is there a Pennzoil part number for the Kohler/air cooled engines?
How about the Rotella oil part number? Engine oil for a air cooled engine has different properties than engine oil for a water cooled engine. I pay attention to "quarks" such as this. Though, I have seen in a pinch where regular water cooled engine oil has been used in the Kohler air cooled engines with out noticeable damage. But for how long I don't know. Userj8670, if you're planning on using your tractor for any winter use, recommended is 10w30, or 10w40. Or perhaps you live closer to the Equator, or have a heated garage.

Today marks the passing of Thomas Midgley Jr. . Midgley was the American mechanical engineer and chemist who had a profound effect on our environment when he invented tetraethllead and dichlorodifluoromethane known by trade names such as Ethyl and Freon.
Ethyl was the gasoline additive created to prevent engine knock. It was less expensive than the rival additives like ethanol. Ethyl contained the toxic element lead and was used standard in gasoline from 1920 up through the 1980's dumping lead into the environment the entire time. I know it's old news, but thought it would fit here in this thread.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
