Sounds good to me. Did notice a bit of smoke at start up but it's not making bad noises. Keep an eye on the oil and hopefully you will get through the winter with it.

Sounds ok. Like to hear it run after the carb adjust and plug gap. It was missing a lot. Why do you think it was rich? As much as you were playing with the choke, I'd say it was lean if anything. If you are going by a sooty plug when you pulled it out, it would have been. With that one cylinder probably having low compression, and the fact it hadn't ran under load yet........ What I'm saying is, a little rich is better than lean.

No, you didn't sound like a smart a$$. It's frustrating and I feel your pain. BTDT.

I'll try to get another video tomorrow and post it. As for why I think it was running rich; the exhaust smelt like it was running rich and when I'd throttle up, a small puff of black smoke fixed by a quarter turn or so of the carb towards lean.

Well, here you go This is after about 7 hours total run-time plowing snow today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh1xgqDNLTw

Also included below is a picture of both spark plugs after I recorded this video. The one on the right is the side I replaced the head gasket on. On a side note, I've got a new oil leak I'm guessing it's from when I tried to take the oil lines off the other day because that's where it's coming from. So my question is this; can I get new oil lines at Napa and how would I go about ordering them?

Let me know what you guys think, thanks!!

Did you try and tighten them up? They are just flared fittings. I'm not sure if they are 37* or 45*.

Because at the time, even though I ordered 2 gaskets, I couldn't gain access to the driver side right without removing the oil filter lines. My problem lied in two areas 1) I didn't have a whole lot of time to work with it and 2) I couldn't get a wrench around one of the oil filter lines to remove it which means I couldn't get that side of the engine shroud off. But it seems now I'm going to have to find a way to do it as I've got a leaking oil line that'll need replaced. Just one more thing I've got to do

Based on your pic, it looks like it's the bottom line on the left (which would be the top line coming out of the engine) is the one that is leaking. But that confuses me because the top line on the right I was able to get off so when I reinstalled, I got it good and tight. Either way, when I run the engine, I can see oil slowly seeping from the engine shroud out of one of the lines so I just assume replace them both but I need to figure out what exactly I need first

can you actually see the leak? Is it coming from the threaded side of the fitting or the steel tube side? If it the threaded side you can put some teflon or some pipe dope on the threads. If it the other side you may have to back the fitting off and clean it up good, there could be a little piece of dirt or something on the flare ring

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
