Hey Guys, curious if this looks factory. A little bit miffed how little the design gave for wear. That and the fact it broke last night. Appears only a little has been holding it together for a long time. Debating if I want to just weld it back up or try to improve with bushing/design. Getting more snow Saturday so may not have options.

I'd probably just weld it back together. Looks like it only pivots on that shaft.

It is solid to the shaft actually and the shaft pivots. Pics don't show but there is about 1/8 of wear in the shaft and a wallowed out hole. I might just weld a new shaft on it... The pushing force of the lift is all placed on the edge of the hole. Really needs a wider support or way to grease. I would prefer to have the lift pivot on the shaft and might see about tweaking so it does that if I have space.

OK now I get it. I thought the weld on the shaft broke. Maybe you can drill it out for a larger shaft?

Thanks for moving. you would think some us could figure out a category system. DOH!
Added a couple pics to show it better for anyone who cares to see it.. Found some 3/4 metal but not larger so 3/4 it will be. Fear I don't have room to extend the axle toward the tire. But if I can, will weld on a pipe that will become my pivot. Seems odd, a very solid blade with a so so lift arrangement. Snow tomorrow so have to get on it quick. |

No problem on moving the post. We all have to learn. Good luck with your Haban!

I had that happen to mine, the rod was only welded on the end ( looks like yours was broken once before) . I had it welded on both sides plus added the support strap to rockshaft .

Was hoping to hear some experiences. Here is how I fixed it. Also added washers on the qa Mount to reduce wear. Thought about pining but decided to weld the end back on. Do have enough to cut apart and redo.

Here I added a grade 8 washer to the frame. The frame takes all the force from the pivot action. A deep groove was worn in the old shaft. It also served to space the arm away from the frame. The subframe should be taking some of the load but on mine it is not taking enough.

Added a side shot of how the arm is mounted to the shaft.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
