I know a lot of you know a thing or two about small engines. So I thought id ask for some insight on my 1986Yamaha srv 540 snowmobile, it starts and idles good but it only will drive with the choke on, definitely too lean I think? Trying to figure out how to richen the mix because it only has the air screw on the top of the carb no other adjustments. Of course I cleaned the carb too.
Also going to change the clutch spring but I can handle that.

Remember 2 stroke engines use the crankcase as part of the induction system.
If one has been sitting a long time, the seals on the crank get hard and shrink up, then air leaks into the crankcase. Not sure if that is your problem but it is a possibility. When you take the carbs back apart, but sure to use the tip cleaners from your torches, and run through all of the jets. It is possible you have a clogged main jet. |

It starts good usually and it's been parked in the shop which is 40℉ I'll replace the fuel lines and impulse line and hopefully I don't have a crank seal out or something

Something comes to mind from my motorcycle days...
Are you using the factory stock air cleaner/filter assembly? Sometimes the after market air stacks run lean, or did this just suddenly develop? Cubby guy

Not stock airbox, also the exhaust end cap had fallen off so a new piece of steel was welded on and helped a little.
Rode it again tonight for a while same outcome, a half can of seafoam has gone completely through it now

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
