Oh, you sold it?!? I would have been one of those guys calling! LOL!
Since we're talking disks. Mine has a few bent blades on it. So, I was going to get new ones. Brinly wants $10 a piece for them. So, I looked through my books for makers of disk blades. They are 11", and apparently special made. BUT, I found a 12" disk blade.... for under $7! But, they were out of stock. ![]() ![]() |

Look in the picture of the OEM tandom setup they front and back are much closer together almost touching on the center disk. If you could get yours closer together that would help, and I'm not sure the distance from rear of tractor a 3pt will be, but if it moves it closer to the tractor that will also help. I think if you get them as close as possible to each other as the factory OEM, turn them around where< faces rear tires will bring them closer together, and closer to tractor along with being mounted closer to tractor using a 3pt you may be able to use them... mock up a frame around them as also OEM picture and you probably couldn't tell them apart. I don't have a small set, but I do have a 6.5' width set if you need any close up pictures/ideas.

Tractor >< if that makes anymore sense >< is the harrow
edit (can't get picture to quote)I thought you had them facing opposite than they are. you can still get them much closer together, and to tractor which should reduce overall lifting weight. Yes I know how they work in tandem like your trying to setup the set behind tractor cuts the set away from tractor smooths/bust up clods is the way they are supposed to work.

If I ever use a double ganger it will be on a hydro tractor. As for the two different discs it would apperar that the rear disc is a newer Brinly.

I have mine set up as a tandem on a sleeve hitch. It is HEAVY and I put weight on it too, but that is why I added hydraulic lift to the tractor. One tip for you though, where the connection is for the front and rear, you should have a section of square tubing with a hole through the middle for the bolt. That will keep the rear more rigid and not flex so much.
I have a dream of one day converting mine to a wheel carry style, then I can really weight it down and do some damage. |

My arm hurts just thinking about trying to lift that tandem disk on a manual Brinly hitch adapter.
Maybe if you need that much disk, you should consider a Farmall 1066 and a 480 disk? ? Sorry...couldn't resist.../////wisenhiemer mode off.

Using a tandom disk on a manual lift will strengthen the arm for moving those engines around. No need to go to the gym for that arm.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
