How about an extended shaft, and a second lift handle on the other side? Manual lift with manual assist.

That pretty smell of untouched soil is the fungus; "Tillage Conventional tillage and other soil disturbance has a negative impact on VAM function. It breaks up fungal threads in soil and destroys their connections with the plant so that they cannot work to increase uptake of nutrients." http://soilwater.com.au/bettersoils/module4/4_3.htm I just like to minimize tillage, a quick break of the top inch so I can get the seeds is is my method. I think running a tiller like a TroyBilt between the rows kills the fungus and helps control weeds, a good thing. Kinda like natural herbicide! ![]() For me, M I N I M U M tillage ![]() Now, if the weeds are out of control, you gotta do what you gotta do! ![]() ![]() |

[QUOTE=J-Mech;248161]LOL! I used to have that! 480 and a 1066 has to be one of the best combinations out there!
When I did some farm work many years back, I turned many an acre with the 1066/480 combo. Couple of years, ran a 1466 with the biggest 480.... Maybe 22 or 24 feet wide with the longest extension gangs... I don't remember the exact size of that 480, but it was a huge honkin' disk. For even heavier duty disk work, the farm had a 500 disk. I think that thing could disk up concrete.

IMHO running a disk over plowed ground, only to run after it with a tiller is wasted time and fuel. Or more seat time which is prolly why allot of people do it. Lol

Or..... because it smooths it up and fills in the dead furrows. The tiller won't till level when it isn't working on level soil.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
