tiller lube

I have an old No.1 tiller that has been setting for a number of yrs. Is there suppose to be some sort of lube in the tiller? or even a place to put it in? I've looked it over and can't seen to find a plug or a place for lube or even a zerk fitting. I've gone over the manual and only see where to put it in the tractor mounted gear box.

There's a big chain in the tiller case itself. It should still be well-greased, as it's a sealed assembly. You could unbolt the two halves and take a look inside and re-grease it if necessary.

What I was planning on doing is drilling a small hole in the cover adding some 90w and installing a grease fitting. I have done this before on other gearcases.

that is not a bad idea Amigatec
if i was going to split the covers but dont want to take the chance of the metal shavings getting into the cases, but might not be enough to worrey about

If you're carefull and use a magnet you can catch almost all the shavings.
