the hitch so far. The wood dowel will be replaced with the 1" rod. The rod will lay on top of the plate, It will be bent so it matches the angle of the plate and it will be bolted to the plate. as it is the lift would lift the side arms into the fender, but with the rod on top of the plate it can't lift the side arms that high. It's ugly at that angle and it is higher than it will be, but it will hook up to the trailers. I fired up the tractor up tonight. With me standing where the ball will be it easily lifts me up - and doesn't feel like it is wanting to wheelie.

finally finished the hitch and had a chance to use it today. works great, achieved my goal of being able to pick up a trailer I took off my van - even my dream of doing it w/o leaving the seat. luckily appearance was not in the specs! It has 8" of travel. Thanks to everyone who helped in designing this, especially Berwil and Double07. I was pretty amazed at how powerful the lift is, even with the long lever (it's 20" from the rock shaft to the ball) I haven't pushed it but it seems like it would lift the front end before giving up. I'll have to be careful it only took 22 tons to bend the SS 1" shaft. I wanted to put the class 3 insert below the plate, but set up like that the sidearms would hit the fenders, this does not lift high enough to hit the fenders.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
