Hello everybody, finally got registered on the site so that I can talk to fellow Cadet fans everywhere. Central Iowa is where I was born and raised. The first Cub Cadet that I ever operated was my grandfather's 149 back in 1978. He has since past on but I still have the 149 and now my son mows our lawn at home with the same tractor. Three generations and it is still going strong!! My son is 13 now and has a intense interest in the Cub Cadet tractors. We now have four Cubs. A 149, 125, 109, and another 149. Of course we had to get some attachments too. We just got done restoring a 42 inch blade and mounted it on the 109. The 149 has a rear tiller mounted on it. The 125 has a snow blower on it. We did all of the installs of the attachments ourselves which was pretty fun since niether of us had ever used attachments on the tractors other than the mower deck. Still looking for tractors. We want to find a Cub Cadet 169. That would be awesome!!! Well, talk to you later! Jason

Welcome to OCC Jason.
It's great that you still have the first Cub you ever used. I also have the first Cub I used. It is a 100 that my dad bought in the early '80s. I got it from him in 2009 and still use it to mow and plow snow with. Too bad nothing built today will still be going strong when it's 50 years old.

Welcome, Jason
I really enjoy using my "QuietLine" model 800, although I just use it to mow (38A mower deck) My Cub Cadet was my dad's machine, a-tip-o-the-hat to you for still using "Gramps" tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
