A great thread. Welcome to the slippery slope! You should have half a dozen in no time.
I have this exact same blower on an 1811. The only thing I dont like about it is that it doesnt raise the front very far off the ground (can be problematic if not level/paved surface). If you end up working over the blower, you might check for this. Then I have a 784 (the 782 with dual hydraulics). Im trying to get down to 1 tractor but seem to be going the wrong direction. So I will be watching your progress, thanks for all the great pics. |

Nice 784, I'd clean it up and enjoy it!

According to the PO, it's been in there family since new between two brothers with adjacent farms and the only thing he can remember replacing on it was a RT front tire. He said it always ran great but believes it doesn't have much life left in it. I guess time will tell, but it seems to run great for now and I do notice a light puff of blue smoke when engaging the PTO but that's it. I wonder what the life expectancy of that 17hp engine is ? It does have the older "clock" style hour meter and the best I can figure out is one time around is 600 hr and it'd been around two and a half times the best I can figure. Are you suggesting a 782 did NOT have hydraulics from the factory ? |

I was under the assumption that a 782 came from the factory with dual hydraulics, because the PO "I know" did not add dual hydraulics to this tractor, and the rubber lines from the hydraulic cylinder to the valve body, the cylinder, and the valve body are all painted red as if they were there when that tractor was painted at the factory. |

I'm kinda confused...So, if it says 782 on the tractor and it has dual hydraulics, it did NOT come the factory that way ? or it was not standard BUT you could order dual hydraulics on a 782 ?

![]() ![]() ![]() You have a red 782 with dual hydraulics. So, it could be either an IH or a CCC built machine. Either way, the dual hydraulics was a factory option. None of your pics are close enough for me to be able to tell by looking if it is a IH or CCC tractor. Post the SN# and I or someone can tell you. ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
