I truly love running the 782 but my 2072 seems to be plagued.
![]() Among the many problems like running hot, "alterfire" not starting hot(starter work). Did I mention I love my 782. lol So on to the problem. Sitting idling I hear the hydraulics load and unload a bit. Sounds very much like a relief valve to me. Not sure if anything in the charge pump can be causing this? Or just needing some neutral adjustment. Machine shows no sign of walking on its own so does not seem likely. I am not even sure what to call it, let alone use search words to find it. |

Tim, I don't think your hearing the hydro. Mag engines seem to have an oil lube problem. My 1811 makes a noise just like you describe. I put an oil pressure gauge on it and the noise occurs when the pressure fluctuates at idle. I've seen/heard other engines that do the same thing. Mine has done it for years with no apparent ill effects. Not sure what causes it, and I have never tried to find out why. My bet is, if you screw an OP gauge onto the motor, you will find the same thing. |

hmm, interesting the Mag motors have this "feature". Already have a gauge in the dash to hook up, guess I need to finish up that project. So when OP fluctuates is it creating full system pressure at the idle? It would it make sense if the oil relief was kicking in and out.
Given the running hot and failure to crank while hot and the backfiring. I was really expecting this thing to fall apart last weekend. But true to our cubs it did the job and drove itself to the barn. Thanks |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
